Solid and well-organised

Strong content, uneven pacing. I would still recommend it.

I bought this on a whim after seeing it mentioned in a forum thread, and I am glad I did. The writing is direct and does not waste space on filler, which I value in a technical book. It is denser than the page count suggests, and I found myself slowing down around the middle. A good addition to a technical library, as long as you know what you are buying.

Excellent from start to finish

The clearest explanation of ai & machine learning I have come across.

This is the third book I have read on ai & machine learning this year, and it is comfortably the best of them. It is denser than the page count suggests, and I found myself slowing down around the middle. The author clearly knows the subject deeply and has thought hard about how to teach it. A few of the examples could be more realistic, but the underlying points come across clearly. This is the book I wish had existed when I started working with ai & machine learning.

Useful in parts

Not quite what I expected from the description, but there is material here.

There is a particular kind of technical book that is dense without being difficult, and this is one of them. The code samples assume a particular environment, which took a bit of fiddling to get running properly. The index and cross-references are surprisingly good, which matters for a book I will come back to. It is denser than the page count suggests, and I found myself slowing down around the middle. Fine, but there are stronger books on the same subject if you look around.

I haven't seen too many comprehensive approaches to this topic, so I took a swing at it. Goal isn't to be exhaustive, but to be comprehensive enough to provide a nice overview for people trying to get their bearings with the topi…
